Ecosystem ponds are beautiful and lively during the day, but you should be able to enjoy them at night too. Strategically placed lights can highlight and direct attention to waterfalls, statues, plants, or other aquascape and landscape features. While traditional halogen lights suck up energy and hike up your electricity bill, LED lights use much less energy and last on average 10-15 times longer.
LED lights are full of benefits: Aquascape’s LED lights are 80-90 percent more electricity efficient. A three watt LED light gives out as much illumination as the old 25 watt halogen bulbs. Plus, LED lights are more durable and do not heat up like traditional lights. This is especially important to an ecosystem pond which is meant to be part of nature and a habitat for plants and animals. Underwater lights can often be a pain to change, so it is also a huge help that LED lights last up to 15 times longer than the halogen bulbs. The lights may also be used above water to highlight any landscape, walkway around your house.
Aside from the LED lights, a fire pit makes a great addition to your yard, especially as we enter into a cooler Autumn (hopefully!). You can either get one designed specifically molded for your space, or you can buy one from any home goods store. Either way, it is sure to add to the calm, relaxed mood set by your pond. Do not miss out on pond time just because it is nighttime.
