Congratulations on deciding to add a waterfall, stream, or pond to your outdoor living space! This exciting addition will transform your yard into a tranquil oasis. With some thoughtful planning, you can ensure your water feature is both beautiful and functional. At AquaReale, we’re here to help you every step of the way. From finding the perfect spot to designing your dream pond and figuring out your budget, we’ve got you covered. Let’s dive into the details and start creating the outdoor paradise you’ve always wanted.

Location, Location, Location

Choosing the Right Spot
Select a location close to where you already spend time, such as next to your patio or near the house. This makes it convenient for you to enjoy your pond without having to trek across the yard. Consider the view from inside your home as well—spend some time deciding on the perfect spot, as relocating a pond is not an easy task.

The Plan

Laying It Out
Use a long rope or a garden hose to outline the desired shape and size of your water feature on the ground. This method, used by professionals, helps you visualize the final product. Measure the dimensions of the outlined area to determine the size and price of the pond liner. Taking photos from various angles can be helpful for future reference.

The Price

Estimating Costs
Use the measurements to calculate the cost with our Water Feature Calculator. If your project falls between sizes, round up to the next pricing tier. Consider additional features like night lighting or treatment systems, which can be included in the calculator for a more precise estimate.

Factors Influencing Cost:

  • Electrical: Ensure there’s an electrical outlet within 10 feet of the pond. Install the outlet after the pond to ensure correct placement.
  • Water Fill Line: Check for a non-soft water source within 10 feet for an automatic fill device. If none, a water line installation may be required.
  • Backflow Prevention Device: Required by code for any existing irrigation systems. Installation by a licensed plumber might be necessary.
  • Soft Water: If your home has a soft water system, a separate non-soft water line is needed for the pond.
  • Excavation Issues: Locate any irrigation or utility lines in the area by calling 811 for a free marking service.
  • Materials Staging Area: Identify a temporary staging area for equipment and materials. Limited staging options may increase costs.
  • Access Issues: Ensure at least a 3-foot wide unobstructed path from the front of the house to the construction area. AquaReale may need to go through the house if access is restricted.
  • Ingress/Egress: The construction path will need restoration, which may include new grass seed, sod, or pavers.
