You've decided you want water in your yard. Exciting. Before you pick up the phone, though, there are a few things worth sorting out in your own head — the answers make that first conversation ten times more productive, and they help you get a quote that actually means something.
None of this is homework you'll be graded on. Think of it as daydreaming with a little structure.
Know what you want the water to do
Are you after fish, or mostly the sound? A koi pond, a water garden full of lilies, a low-upkeep disappearing waterfall — these are different builds with different budgets. You don't need it all figured out, but a sense of the vibe helps enormously. Do you picture yourself feeding fish on a Sunday morning, or just hearing water from the deck?
Look at your actual space
Walk the yard. Notice where the sun falls, where water already pools after a storm, what you'd see from the kitchen window. South Jersey lots vary a lot — sandy soil in some spots, flat and wet in others — and those details shape what's possible. Snap a few photos. A builder can tell you a surprising amount from them.
Think budget and timing, roughly
You don't need a firm number, but a range keeps everyone honest and saves you from falling for a design that was never realistic. Our cost guide is a good gut check before you talk to anyone.
"Competent and did the work rapidly. Happy with the end result."

The more you've mulled these over, the better your builder can help. We work throughout South Jersey, and we love these early, nothing's-decided-yet conversations. When you're ready, reach out or call 215-880-6811 — no pressure, just a good talk about what's possible.
